 The Image: Had our friends Mel and Ash over with Charlotte who is a gorgeous girl. I took about 100 images as she played and interacted. At one point she had a cry and the light coming through our windows was magic! Her red cheeks and teary eyes were full of passion. I thought this might be a good image for this challenge.

The Edit: Levels, some layer masks and adjustment layers for Gaussian Blur, contrast, colour balance etc. Some sharpening. I cloned out a few minor blemishes and stains on her face that were tiny but distracting. I was thinking of going black and white, but think the warm light and the red cheeks and those eyes had to be seen.

The Prediction: Child shots like this don't usually do so well, so 6.0000?

I expected this to place a little higher, but it appears to have come in not too much under your own estimate. I gave it a 9.

A refreshing change from the usual portrait of a child smiling and laughing. This is just as frequent a behavior and fits the subject very well. It's a part of life not frequently portrayed in portraits. I like how you've focused in on the teary eyes by the use of shallow DOF.

I don't really get the title and for me makes it more confusing. Hmmm? Child with very red cheeks and crying? I wonder why. The eye color and focus is very nice.

Wow, she has very beautiful eyes! This one is gonna be a heartbreaker!

Good focus on the eyes and the tears, and her cheeks are so delicate and soft. This makes for a lovely portrait.

What beautiful green eyes, even with tears in them :) Your color is great. The image is about a stop underexposed. For this kind of a close up comp, I would leave a little more space under the chin and take off a little on the top to move the eyes higher in the frame (on the one third line instead of the middle line). A very nice image. 6 from me.
