Very wet, rainy, cold, miserable day. So I went for a walk in the woods and brought the Puffer diffuser for the flash. By the time I took this I couldn't see through my wet viewfinder and glasses so I guessed a little as to where I was focussing, but I wanted (and got) all the raindrops clinging to the branch, and the rest fading into darkness (flash outdoors on a dark day can be a wonderful thing). I like the way the branch meanders through the image and the shallow DOF, but then I am very fond of shallow DOF.

PP - converted from RAW, rotated, cropped, cloned some darkness onto one bright drop, burned a little of upper right branch, levels, increased contrast, added border, resized, sharpened.

Lots of bokeh/dof photos going on this challenge. I like your overall composition.

I wish the larger drop had been the one in focus.

Wonderful abstract, the in-focus part of the photo is excellent. It shows the best of the rose branch in colour and texture, and this is accentuated by the rain drops. You were right to choose a black background.

I think you will lose points for the graininess in the top right hand corner of the picture. Some graininess/noise is good if executed correctly, but I do feel there is too much noise and colour pollution in this particular shot.

Okay, it's alive and it's a really nice picture, but maybe you are pushing it just a bit too much outside the box. I'm afraid it will get voted down because of this. Just my opinion :o

PS, I'm not voting on this challenge, just commenting on some pictures :)

Very effective composition and good colour. Would have liked greater focus in the foreground for better impact.

Kinda feel like the DOF is a tad too shallow
