For those of you getting tired of seeing this girl... hehe... I will be shooting other folk this weekend...
Anyhows, this is my most processed image in the challenge to date...
I really didn't like the exposures I got, so I brought in both light and dark exposures from the RAW, kept bits and pieces from both, cloned out her big red sock (should have seen that when I took it), added a diffuse glow to the whole image and saved for web. It doesn't seem like much, but it felt like a lot of work.
The idea here was to play with some custom apertures, I wanted the out of focus flames to look like hearts... I got some sharper hearts in some of the other images, but I liked the portrait best in this one.
Custom aperture was made with a piece of black card cut to the size of my UV filter, with a heart cut into the front of it. (Note, this works best if the size of the cutout is close to that of your largest aperture, and works better with large aperture lenses. Also, make sure your lens is set to the largest aperture, or your 'bokeh' will simply reflect the shape of the lens aperture).
Peace. |

the choice of candles to lead us to her face works so very well - again great choice on the warm tones here |

Not sure how to leave comments on your blog, but I enjoyed the video. Particularly the man tights. :-) |

Composition: Wonderful. I love the leading line of candles to the subject.
Lighting/Exposure: I like the catchlights in her eyes from the candles and the soft light they have created on her face.
Pose: I appreciate the fact that her face is not actually ON her hands. It distorts the features, IMO. Very nicely posed.
Suggestions for Improvements: Nada.
Thanks for the mini tutorial. :) |

The flames can be seen in her eyes. Nice lighting and composition. The candles in the front might be distracting if not for the heart looking shape of them. I do like the photo overall. |

Nice work with the filter! I have been wanting to do one for ages now, but havent had the time. Composition is interesting. The arms cut the images about halfway down, deviding the image in two. The eyes are nicely lit and the warmth is great. |
