Lev, this was shot outdoors but I used a tripod and white board for fill, so it is almost a studio shot. I should have increased 1/2 stop for DOF. Thanks.

The technical expertise displayed here is pretty astounding - and the artistic presentation of course always blows me away. Deceptively simplistic, visually, but presents a deeply allegorical narrative.

The DOF really emphasizes a tiny subject and provides some natural framing. I like the lighting on the body of the ant. This is one of my top entries in this competition.
