Beautiful colors and texture. Your sense of composition is wonderful with the curve of the stem and the twist of the but combined with the large swaths of color from the petals and leaves in the background. |

Very nice shot and good execution. Great detail in the closed flower, but I'd like to see just a bit more of the open flower. |

unusual choice for fg/bg subject & focus. I would've done them the "traditional" (flower/bud) way, but this works... |

This is a great shot of a closed bud but the open flower in the background ends up being a distraction to me rather than part of the shot. Maybe if you could have had them both in focus, DOF just doesn't work in this shot for me personally. A 3 to start but will bump to a 5 since the bud is so well done. :) |

I would have liked to see more detail in the open flower.. |

wonderful example of macro shooting. My only concern is that, in this particular case, the depth of field may be too shallow, keeping me from really grasping the concept of the open flower behind, thus pulling away from the challenge topic. The color, however, is absolute top-notch! |

Good idea for the challenge, and great focus on the bud! I am a little disappointed that the "open" is not also in focus. Still, you're gettin an 8 from me. |

I see the opposites here, but it doesn't work very well because the open flower is too out of focus. As a still life it is beautiful, all the technical aspects are there. 5 |

One of the best I've seen this challenge; quite pleasing composition and spot-on focus. Colors are beautiful. You might be my high score!!!! :o) |

Excellent DOF here! The colors are beautiful and the texture of the closed bud is gorgeous! Had to up my score on this one after looking at it again. Good job, I really like it. |

This is a beautiful picture. However, the "opened" flower is not in focus, and all one really sees is the bud. 7. |
