a symphony in sepia without even trying -- title is apt because there is a settling balance to the composition.

This is about the most difficult shot to pull off ... a dark subject with bright backlighting. I would find it more interesting if I could see more of the cat. Fill flash might help. Or possibly shadow/highlight adjustments. HDR may fail because cats have a tendancy to move.

the exposure is not good as so it is somehwere between a silhouette and a poorly lit image...

Needs some fill flash or reflected light to bring up the cat more. Background light is overpowering.

Poise is right. However, because of the window behind the cat, you've got a contrast problem. The highlights from the window are blown out and this also causes the cat to be too dark. Then there is the kind of cluttered background. These are meant to be constructive, though, not harsh. I do like the bouquet.
