I took this photo specifically for this challenge. My girlfriend suggested that rather than create a shadow I use a natural one and she loves that candle on the wall so I chose that. It is lit by the light from our celing fan only. I tried using a bright table lamp that you'd see on an office desk but it really took away from the shadow that was created and I could not seem to create one better than the ceiling fan light did on its own. I took it with a fast enough shutter to keep it dark enough to make the shadow really stand out but at the same time I bumped up the ISO so it didn't come out TOO dark. I was also hand holding the camera which definitely contributed to the decision to use such a quick shutter speed rather than a slower one with a lower ISO. I really just want thoughts on the cropping, composition, and overall lighting (is it still too dark?) Thanks, Jon

I don't think the flash / light source has helped this image particularly, it has resulted in a single lit strip along what appears to be a very richly coloured candle. What might have helped here would be to use a long exposure with just a reflector or low level fill flash to bring out the candles colours.
