I took a picture of the kids just like this a week ago, prior to seeing this challenge. It was easy to recreate with the subject about 8 feet in front of the tree, my light box a foot to the side of the subject, and the camera about a foot away. By far the smallest amount of editing I've ever had to do - just cropped it and bumped the saturation a little.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 6 or 7.

My first impression is, wow, why didn't this score higher? A nice and clean composition with a wonderful variety of circles. I like to tell people they haven't left enough breathing space for their subjects, but in this case, you have left enough room to make this work. I like that is not looking into the largest negative space, which is the crop chosen most often. Yes the highlights are a tad overexposed. I'm not saying a photograph has to have a perfect exposure, but in this case, I don't think it adds anything to the photograph. All in all, a lovely photograph. Keep up the good work.

If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you.

Nice Bokeh, good light! The object could be other and the title too, since the christmas theme was kind of obvious. The object seems to be a little OOF too.

What a great 'fairy tale' image. Full of emotion.

The bokeh is really pleasing here, but the lighting ends up a little harsh on the subject.

He doesn't come to life at night and hide things, does he? 'Cuz he has that creepy kind of doll face =:-O The lights are a little dark and sinister, too.
