Greetings from the Critique Club, and your daughter!
How weird out of all of the randomly alotted pictures, to be alloted yours for in-depth critique, hehehe...
Composition: This seems to be the main area of concern for your commenters. I don't think that the foreground is as distracting as they say, but I might have cropped in maybe a half inch on the bottom and an inch on the right hand side. Not in as far as one of your commenters suggested, but enough to draw the focus to the eggs a bit more. Try it- it might throw off the balance a little though.
TECHNICAL: (COMPUTER HAS GONE HAYWIRE AND CAPSLOCK WONT RELEASE) A LITTLE MORE DOF MIGHT HAVE HELPED WITH THE FOREGROUND, BUT RIGHT NOW IT FOCUSES NICELY ON THE EGGS. THE EXPOSURE SEEMS RIGHT ON, KEEPING THE COLORS RICH. I MIGHT DO A LIGHT BURN ON THE BRIGHT PARTS OF THE NEST NOW THAT YOU CAN EDIT IT AS YOU PLEASE.
APPEAL: IT APPEALS TO ME, BUT MANY OF THE VOTERS SEEM TO HAVE FOUND IT PRETTY MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THEY EXPECTED SOMETHING MORE "WACKY" OR OUT THERE FOR THE SOMETHING NEW CHALLENGE.
FITTING THE CHALLENGE: I'VE NEVER SEEN YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF EGGS BEFORE, NOR HAVE I SEEN YOU CLIMBING TREES CAMERA IN HAND.
SORRY FOR ALL THE YELLING. DARM WORK COMPUTER!

Foreground blurring is a problem here. Also, the point of view obstructs the subject enough to be distracting. |

Great find...I like how the whyole composition is surrounding the eggs, almost trying to keep them safe. |

How neat to find this...where was it during serendipity? :o)
Really well-made photo. Like the DOF and the framing. |

Great job cropping and use of DOF. Some might think the leaves are distracting but I think they frame the bottom and right side well. Nice color of the eggs even though I have no idea what kind of bird would lay blue eggs. |

I like the color of the eggs against the neutral nest. I find the out of focus leaves in the foreground very distracting. I don't know whether you would get into trouble removing them (are they weeds or intentional plants?). If so, better depth of field could be a solution, or a higher camera positon to drop them below the angle of view. |

Good find! What type of bird lays blue eggs? Blue bird? I like the use of your DOF. It is very effective. Good job! |

Just the eggs and nest could have been great (love that color blue!), but the out of focus leaves don't work. In fact, just cropping this shot so the eggs end in the bottom-right corner would be a big improvement. |

Beautiful image. I imagine it will be fun to watch these little ones hatch and grow. Good luck on the challenge! |
