 used black fabric behind camera and in front of me to hide my reflection in the ball.It kinda worked, but you can still see my hand and remote cord, not going to re shoot for such a small problem. all in all happy with how the shot worked out. a deeper dof would have been nice to get more of the ball in focus but as I found out it made too much of the background sharp. f 4.5 was a good middle ground. good detail and good circles.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 5 or 6.

I don't mind the business as much as your other commenters. I like the details in the bulb, the bokeh in the background, and bright "star". I do think the composition would be stronger without the 3 stringed lights. Removing them would simplify this photograph in that you could look back and forth between the other elements without your eyes being led out the sides of the image. All in all, interesting composition, and good use of complimentary colours.

The colors are beatiful but your photo have some bad things in my opinion. The light on the top is too distractive and the reflex on the ball too. About the bokeh, i think the background it's kind of blurry and the lights are unnecessary because they are too strong and distractive too. Maybe more speed would finish all this problems. Sorry if i was rude, it wasn't my intention. Nice try! Good luck!

Perfectly placed starburst, and the bokeh adds to the feeling of celebration and wonder. Shame about the reflection of the door (?) on the bauble, but reflections on shiny curved surfaces are pretty much impossible to avoid - and you have done well not to get yourself in the shot!

There's a lot going on here.

The big white spots in the background are distracting, but the smaller bokeh and star is lovely.
