 This is the girl from the photo I took at Phoenix Children's Hospital.



When Young Arts had the opening reception for the exhibit of art by kids from Phoenix Children's, the girl and her mom came.

Meanwhile she had her head shaved. There's a lot wrong with her, and yet she has a very good attitude.

This picture was not nearly as dramatic as it looks. I was taking photos and she was playfully shielding her face - and we were all laughing. I just happened to catch this somewhat haunting look.

Processed it with a lot of nik efex and overlayed with part of this:



I worked on this for a while and in several different versions. Tried some BW, but I liked the color better.

It really makes me realize how lucky I am.

Lovely shot of a candid moment, and your split second capture of this conveys a lot of different emotions. Well done!

Very poignant image, although I am happy to hear that the situation was more playful in reality! The filter reminds me of cracks, and makes me think how fragile we humans are...

very dramatic feeling .. it looks like she's unwell, not only from the shaved head .. and the shielding the face adds to it .. its a brilliant process you've done .. i like that in reality you were all fooling around .. different from the look of the image .. :)
