Thanks for looking. Had a lightsource infront with black umbrella and a backlight directly behind me.

FYI...the majority of my shots are self portraits...I'm the only model I can find right now :). Though am hoping to become more convincing with friends in the future.

I don't agree at all that it's a shoehorn. The pose, makeup, postprocessing all give it a feel of the early days of cinema.
It was obviously taken with the challenge in mind, not just a random portrait. Very nice work, and welcome to DPC :)

He meant to say that you forced the picture into meeting the challenge by using the word 'star' in the title. I disagree, I think you are showing a 'celebrity' type subject, maybe a movie or show-business 'star' of sorts, so, I think it did meet the challenge. Besides, I think it is a great photo.

Shoehorns are references to images that do not really fit the challenge, but the photographer uses the title to try to fit the image into the challenge. In this case the those who take the challenges literally are referring to the fact that there is not a physical star in your image. Personally, the challenge refers to the fact that not all the stars are in the sky, so for me a picture of a star, or in your case a glamor shot that looks like it could be someone who is a star, fits the challenge well.

Others are looking for a glowing gaseous ball, or a star shaped object. You will find them along the way during your journey here.

Titular: A title of an artistic work. Shoehorn: A photo entered in a challenge where it doesn't belong by giving it a creative name or title.

Welcome to DPC :)

Nice portrait even if it is a titular shoehorn.

I thought it was Madonna for a second. It's a nice photo but kinda shoehorn-ish. I'll go with a 7.

Clearly a very good portrait shot - some won't like your interpretation of the brief but a nice shot nonetheless.
