 I wonder what you'll make of this. I was planning to take something similar for the Puzzle Macro challenge, but never got around to doing it.

Well, "something baked" isn't so far off, but I guess sempermarine was closest, saying it's some kind of stone.

With the colors and the texture I see I am guessing that this is some type of squash. Interesting color mix and some texture on the skin. Wish it had a tad more contrast to really pop more visually. Contrast is good on the dark top portions but could use more on the lighter bottom ones that look a tad washed out.

It looks like some type of stone to me. I see some fractures. Quartz?

The top of the photo looks like some type of fish scale. The bottom looks like some type of caramel ice cream. However, since those two don't go together, you've got me!

Yep! Rob got my guess. Foam floating on top of water, lapping against the rocks. Cool image.
