 Mother and daughter sitting at Phoenix Children's Hospital. I don't know what girl has, but she was pretty sick. Came into the teen room for an art workshop I was filming.

I took this from the teen room out into the hallway. Mom was getting ready to leave and daughter didn't want her to.

Edit to add: Meanwhile I've met both mother and daughter again at the art opening featuring the daughter's art (among many others). I showed the mom this photo and she loved it - I sent it to her in email. It was fun for me, too - sort of took it full circle. Rarely do I show people their candids.


Played around with levels and shifted the color tones a bit - and overlayed with this:

Alicia this is fantastic - I just love some of your overlays. This is also so emotional. The overlay seems to bring out the confusion of this little girls plight.

Overlay both adds to the busyness and draws my eye instantly to the main subjects. I may learn to like overlays during this side challenge ;-)

This is an extremely interesting and intriguing image. Thanks for sharing the story, it is very emotive image, and I love the processing. It's an image that I will probably return to, to see if I've missed something. Great job!

wow! the colors in this photo frirst cought my eyes as a thumbnail,
it has a lot going on in it but it all works well, i havent really tryed playing around with overlays but seing this i think in want to, great photo, well processed!

Totally art. Love the lines, the colors, the absolute demand for attention to emotion. Wow! And as always, the overlay adds without taking away. You've got this down. Amazing and beautifully sad.

there are so many interesting textures and patterns going on here ... it's almost chaotic ... which I can imagine that girl's world is, pure chaos. Excellent image, captures the emotion perfectly.

edit to add that the story stuck with me so deeply that I'm coming back to add to faves ... fantastic image ...
