Los Angeles on Thanksgiving night.

[Dec. 5th, 2008 01:04:21 AM]

I figured I'd get some DNMC comments. I do realize it is quite dark. The sky was an ugly gray/orange that I wanted out. Oh well, I knew I was shoe-horning when I uploaded this. I had nothing for this challenge. Was away for a funeral, and sick, and didn't think much about the DPCO. Would have never entered anything if it was not for the DPCO. I expected a low score. :O(

A longer exposure here would have shown more building lines rather than just lights.

aside from the borders I dont get the feeling of straight from this shot. I can tell that there are buildings but it is so dark and under exposed that I cant see them well.

Wonderful image, some might say it's too dark but imo I think it's perfect. 9 from me.

would look better without the lines imo, more spots than lines (6)

"Details: Capture an image that includes only straight lines." So DNMC

Ignoring that, I don't know what you were trying to do here. I am niot sure whether you have PP's out all of the detail, or if you didn't capture it in the first place. Assuming that you didn't PP it all out, then wehen you take night shots like this, you need to use a longer exposure to get the detail from the less lit areas. You should be able to see the rest of the detail, rather than just the points of light. Long Exposure, with camera on a tripod, and use a remote to open the shutter (or use your timer) o avoid camera shake.
If you PP's out the detail, then I don't see why, and the effect you have doesn't work for me.

I feel that if perhaps you'd left your shutter open for just a bit longer, the taller buildings would separate themselves more from the lower buildings. Great concept, though :)
