IMHO the subject is not very interesting. Shooting with side/backlighting doesn't seem like the best way to highlight the rust on the trash can. The image is also too small to see much detail. The sign post and bright sidewalk in the background pull attention away from the main subject.

Good choice of subject, but it looks like you just walked over to it and snapped a picture. Always walk around and check out angles. By taking a step to the left, you could have gotten that sign post out of the picture. It doesn't do anything positive for your composition. By crouching down a little, you could have gotten the white diagonal of the sidewalk lower, crossing the can at a more interesting level. Walk around your subject, and keep taking pictures!

There does not seem to be a lot of reason to present the can in silhouette, nor for the sidewalk, nor for the post.

A 2.

The trash can in the very center of a small image makes this tough to appreciate the effort.

image is too small.. cant really tell.. subject is not all that interesting in my opinion.. and more texture and perhaps a closer capture would have helped.. 4

Too small. Would have prefered to have the light shining on the front of the trash can. The pole behind is also distracting.

Nice shot, although I would have liked to see it larger.

Rather than putting the rubbish bin in the middle of the frame I think the image would be more striking if it was smaller and to one side of the image.

pic too small - should be 600 to 640 pixels on the long side.

I think the lighting is kind of bright. All your detail is kind of dark to see. Dawn/dusk/overcast usually provides better lighting, but you could try forcing your flash to cut down on shadows.

You definitely captured the challenge theme in your image, but I don't see anything built on that theme. It's just a barrel, but lacking a point of interest. It would also have been nice to choose an angle that didn't include the sign post in the upper left, as well as the sidewalk/road which is a bit distracting from the subject.
