A friend of mine took me up in one of his planes, a Cessna 150. I'm 6'3" and weigh 240 lbs and I barely fit into this go-kart with wings. Actually, during most of the shooting I turned sideways in my seat with my feet hanging out of the aircraft so that I could face my shots and stretch my legs. I was strapped in with a lap belt and was never close to falling out. We even landed for more fuel while I was still half out of the plane.

I've been wanting to do some aerial shots over the Everglades and 10,000 Islands for quite some time now. I wish the clouds and sunset would have been a little more dramatic. The sky was totally blown out as captured so I exposed the shot seperately for the sky and combined the two exposures.

It wasn't a good shot and quite a lot of post processing got it where it is now.

Post Challenge:

I struggled with my choice in post processing and realized almost immediately that I chose wrong. DPC needs to see over processed and over saturated images. I prefer images that are enhanced but closer to being realistic.

Here is the original, unprocessed image:

and here is the image processed in a way that, in my hindsight, would have garnered a higher score:

to be honest, i like the editing that you did for the entered photo. The new processing looks a little over done to me. Shame you didnt do better in the challenge though.

nice depth, could use a bit more contrast or saturation, IMO.

Incredible shot... looks like renting the helicopter for this shot was worth it. Either that or you have a jet pack, and that would be really cool :D Hope you do well. This is one of my top ten. 9

I'd be curious to see how this looked with a little more contrast, but perhaps the hazy effect is intended. Beautiful scene.

I think the border spoils what is quite a nice photo. I do however think the processing could do with some more contrast to stop the colours looking so washed out.

Two issues. One, I'm looking for a bit more contrast at the horizon. Two, my eye looks for a focal point to land on and can't find one. It's still a well done shot, especially from a plane. 6
