A slate sculpture of Alan Turing. This is the man responsible for designing the decoder capable of deciphering the German Enigma codes sent during World War II. As a slight twist, Alan was thought to be gay so needed to keep a "STRAIGHT FACE" as the British were not quite as liberal back then.

I would have liked to include more of the sculpture to give a better depth of field, but was I concerned about including only straight lines. I was therefore a little restricted with the crop. A slight curves adjustment, resize and save for web finished it off.

Almost looks like Ollie North. Very interesting capture. What is that made out of?

interesting. It reminds me of those blocks with blunt pins that you can push your face into and it retains the imprint. those were fun. My suggestions for improvement would be to show all of the head, and perhaps have a softer back ground or greater depth of field to push the head off the background more

Interesting sculpture. Looks a bit like Joh Bjelke Petersen to me.

I like very much the texture and the light on it in this photo. Well done !

This statue might be really interesting in real life, but I don't think it photographs well. All of the lines and pieces turn into a distraction.

Don't know who it is, but hey, I'm Australian........

The lighting is very direct, and therefore causes refelctions from weird places that also doesn't work

I bet this gets slated

Very good idea, and very intriguing. The background is a bit distracting... If it could have been dark or more neutral it would improve the photograph. But I still give it an 8.

My guess would be.
Reginald Joseph Mitchell (1895-1937) trained as an engineer and worked as chief designer of the Supermarine Company during World War I. He then turned his hand to aeronautical engineering, developing the design of the famous Spitfire fighter plane used in World War II.

Was I right ;-)
