| great lighting, hard to tell it's a cigar without the title. Doesn't really look like it is in his mouth and that distracts from the high quality image. |

| Great lighting, but it's a bit hard to tell that it is a cigar (I wouldn't have known if not for the title). At first I thought it was some kind of rail leading behind him, rather than coming out of his mouth. |

| Duplicate and flip this and you have a well-executed variation on the "do you see faces or a vase?" optical illusion ... :-) |

| If it weren't for the title, I wouldn't have been able to figure out that was a cigar... Imho, the crop is a bit too tight. I wonder how this might look if you could see the end of the cigar, and even had a little smoke if possible? Just a thought. |

| I like the lighting and the character of the man's face but the cigar positioning is weird. It looks like it is up his nose rather than in his mouth. |

I really like the overall tones and lighting on this.
One thing that has bugged me since I first saw it, was the angle and position of the cigar. It is following the same diagonal as his nose and in ways, at first glance, looks like it is coming out of his nose or out of the underside of his upper lip. Had the cigar been positioned differently, I suspect this shot would have had far more appeal. |

| It looks like a very professional photo. Very sharp, almost too much. Something about the perspective of the so-called 'cigar' is slightly askew to me otherwise I'd have rated your photo at 10. As is, I'll go with a 9. |

| I love the detail in the face. I wish the bottom half of the cigar were visible as it makes his lips look a bit distorted the way it is. All-in-all, a good image :) good luck :) |

The placement of the cigar looks odd, IMO... I didn't know what it was until I'd read the title of your photo. Perhaps having the cigar centered between his lips or on the right side of his mouth wouldn't make it look like it was growing out from the side of his face.
On the plus side, I LOVE the lighting (you've nailed it!) Super sharp detail, plenty of eye-candy here. All in all, well done :) |

| The lighting on this is excellent. The only "nit pick" is that it looks more like he is being impaled by the cigar, rather than smoking it. |

| great portrait! I would probably crop a little higher at the bottom for balance, though. the cigar looks a little strange, maybe beacuse it is so long and cropped? If not for the title I could mistakenly decide it was a metal bar or something in the background |

Soooo, if that is actually a cigar, why don't I feel it? From his mouth to the end of the frame, it looks weird.
Not only that, but the "cigar" does not encompass his mouth. It is sticking to his mustache and not coming out of his mouth.

| The cigar seems to be coming out of his mouth at a weird angle. Could be the lighting is hiding some of the bottom of the cigar. I'd also think about not having the cigar off the end of the canvas. Lighting is good though. Nice thoughtful expression. 6 |
