The subject is crazed ceramic glaze. It is on a small dish which is about 6 1/2 inches in diameter. However the actual final image area is only about 1/2 an inch long. The crazing is obvious to the eye, but the bubbles were a bonus that only became apparent on magnification.

That is some dish! Appreciate the over- and mid-views which seem only to increase the wow of the closeup. You made the right choice, I think, in your entry, concentrating on the green blues to purple. T

This is a picture of the complete ceramic dish

This is the original photo from which I extracted the detail in my submission.

This is one of many alternative outtakes. There were quite a few and I spent a ridiculous amount of time agonizing over their relative merits.

Yo Marion, I would never have guessed this, and am terribly impressed by lectrol who did. I kept thinking bits of paper, but what were those eye things... Great colours and patterns of patterns. Would really like to see a shot of the plate. Congrats on the shot and the score.

Well, I am happy. This is far and away the best I have scored yet. Thankyou to everyone who helped me achieve my pb, and for all encouraging comments. And thankyou for having a go at guessing what it was. This part of the challenge was time consuming but fun, and now I am enjoying catching up with what everything was.

A stumper, so meets the challenge. Brilliant abstract. Looks like an ultramodern quilt design. I like the diagonal quadrants. Not normally a border fan but I like this.

Nice colorful abstract. Glass of some sort. I bet it would sell in a gallery.

No idea, maybe a glass window or cutting board? Pretty colours, I think your border is unnecessary.
