OK. Sorry, I was out buying cough drops!!!

It's a Nautilus. Please don't take your story back!

Nautilus

PP: BW conversion, levels, curves, etc. The main pathway to this image was heavy burning to clean it up. Really brought out the contrast and curves. Did not cross my mind to use this method, so thanks to Lydiatoo for slapping me in the face!

I hope you guys are not truly upset. I can't tell. The link is above, sorry, I totally forgot. Obviously I had an entire week to update the info.

It's a cross section of an ammonoid, Nautilus. Although the chambers looks like they have been mineralized so it's likely an ammonite.

You had better tell people what this was. I didn't actually leave a guess, but I did spend some time trying to figure it out and was intending to come back if I did.

I've been robbed! If you're not going to tell us what it is, then I want my story comment back!

So what's the point of not leaving any comments about the image to us poor saps who voted and guessed what it was??

Wow. I think this one is going to end on the front page. I can't even fathom a guess. Love the tones you have achieved. Is it some type of quartz / agate? Great puzzle marco

The pod mother started awakening the sleeping drones from their growth chambers. Earth was near and they would soon feast. It had been a long journey and they did not yet have a McDonaldsâ„¢ in the Rigel system.
