| The upper left corner is distracting and I would have kept most of the spheres (beads) in focus. I like the colors and the lighting is good (not too harsh). |

| I think it would have worked better with a more selective DOF, say with only one line of balls in focus. Or with all of them in focus. As is, there seems no pattern to what's in focus and what isn't. |

| Glass (or shiny plastic) is a difficult subject to photograph without special lighting, particularly in spherical form. This looks like you relied on flash for your lighting and it shows in the distracting hot spots. My suggestion is to try this again and place some kind of light source to the side of the arrangement (even a strong flashlight might do the trick). The other suggestion is to use a much higher depth of field if possible. The spehres in the foreground are very out of focus. A shallow depth of field creates distance between the objects which tends to detract from the abstract quality of the image. From my understanding, an abstract image should look very 2D, rather than 3D. Better lighting and sharper focus would make the shapes more obvious and the design they create more powerful. I would also omit the gold speheres as they aren't really adding anything to the overall effect. |
