This little guy was easy to sneak up on. I try different tecniques when approaching these little guys. What sometimes works is laying on the ground about ten feet from one and slowly inching towards them at their level. It keeps you from appearing as this giant threat standing over them. (It also tends to make your cloths dusty and it really sucks if you happen to crawl over an ant hill) :) I almost didn't enter this photo because of the light blue or turquoise look that the Damselfly has, but I decided to take something green in my left hand and something blue in my right hand and hold them on either side of the Damselfly, and sure enough, it looked Blue. I certainly appreciate the comments that I have received and thank everyone who voted.

Great shot! It might be my screen calibration, but the dragon fly looks more green than blue... if that's the case, you can always change the green hue into a blue in camera raw (allowed under basic editing)... IMO if the dragon fly was more blue, then it would score much higher... great sharp focus thought =)

Nice crisp focus on the main part of the body. I can actually see his little hairs on his back. Intersting prespective. Looks like he is trying to get away from you. I really like the muted tones of your backgrond. The damselfly I took wasn't near as colorful as this one. Here is mine [thumb]608371[/thumb] Pus I couldn't get as close as you seem to have gotten. Nicely done.

The damselfly is dominated by the branch and the background.

How did you manage to capture such a lovely shot. The focus and composition and colour are all great. And the little critters will hardly stay still. 9

This little damselfly is a difficult shot and you did really well with the focus and DOF. I like that you caught him on a reddish branch. It really helps bring out the color blue. What a little cutie. He looks like he's sporting jet packs! Great image!

I think this would work better in a green challenge. Nice dof.
