maybe I should write a few words about the setup. not too complicated, really. Soldered a couple of wires to the bulb, drilled a hole in the egg shell and ran the wires through that. You can't see the wires and the hole because they are obscured by the bulb. Wires were thick and sturdy enough to hold the weight of the bulb, so it could stay up in the air without support. then I ran the wires through the background sheet of dark cardboard to a single 1.5V battery. I used one strobe on the left to light the whole scene and internals of the shell, and then I used a small flashlight to highlight the shell from the right (and somewhat back) side, a typical portrait setup :). The cross coming from the light is due to a standard Cokin 4-end star filter which I had for a while but never really used before. Oh yes, making a nice reflection was a little tricky. A mirror works badly because of dual reflections, I could not find a polished metal plate on a short notice, which would be ideal, and I did not want to risk DQ by erasing the dual reflection as it happened to techo once before. So I used a standard transparency sheet which was thin enough so the double reflection would not be noticeable. Took me some time to balance the three light sources, but with a static object like this it is just a simple matter of trial and error.

Wonderful shot. I'm guessing wires through the back of the shell soldered to the bulb? Excellent lighting. This should score very highly if not ribbon!

Nice trick shot. The star adds nicely. A small nitpick, but my eye wants the bulb a bit to the right, maybe so the edge is past the crack. Still, it's well done and I don't get any sense of the wires that were used to light the bulb. 8
