Challenge: Masters' Free Study II (Advanced Editing VII) Camera: Nikon D80 Lens: Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Location: Ragged Point, CA Date: Nov 8, 2008 Galleries: Nature, Floral Date Uploaded: Nov 2, 2008

Taken at Ragged Point, CA, near Big Sur. This plant, Pride of Madeira, is very attractive to butterflies. Funny thing, though, they all congregated to this one plant, while there were others nearby without any butterflies. It was like a butterfly orgy.
Converted from raw, adjusted exposure. In PSE, levels, slight sat, cloned out some imperfections on wings, dodged, burned, and saturated on wings. Resized, USM, and saved for web. |

The clarity and colour in this is magnificent. I would only wish for a slightly less central composition and perhaps more dramatic lighting. |

The first thing that caught my eyes was the color of the flowers. And the butterflies are perfectly in focus. |

How nice!! I might have placed the flower more on a diagonal, but that's just my personal preference for diagonal compositions. |

This is quite beautiful and a great capture. I think I would like it even better with a square crop. |
