I think that this could have worked well in black and white. I don't think that the rust is strong enough to hold it's own without the color here. Also, your image seems a bit soft to me. The tonal range seems harsh. The light coming from the left side is stronger than on the left, which causes some washed out looking area on the left. I like the subject. Overall it's ok, but it's just not strong. ~Heather~ |

black and white shots do not display rust very well, probably would have been better in color and sharpened |

In any other challenge B and W would have worked, but without the colour the rust is pretty much hidden. |

interesting shot, however i think that showing the rust in color would have a greater impact for this particular challenge. |

It's a good looking specimen for rusted - a lot of character. This is one case however where I don't think black and white is the most effective communication tool. Focus seems a bit soft as well. |

the b&w doesn't let me see the rustiness of the machine, to me it looks like someone has done some sanding and is ready for some primer, therefore doesn't look like it is rusty. |

Looks like some kind of flare from the left, Difficault picture, It could use more depth, Was it not better in color? It kinda fades to one and looks busy, without something one to catch the eye, also seems a bit soft on focus, Anyway, Good luck :) |
