The truly astute will know something is up because Peregrines almost exclusively hunt birds. This was taken at a raptor rehabilitation center. The bird is not in a cage, but is injured and cannot be released (torn pectoral muscle if I recall).

POST: Hey! The elusive Wildlife Ribbon even if the score is half a point less than last time. :) As mentioned by a few people, that is no "field mouse". It's a rat, but that just wouldn't sound very nice in a title.

Jason has probably figured out the trick. It seems the more colorful you make the gore the better it'll do. Take this one for example. That shot makes this Peregrine shot look desaturated. :P

I loved this shot and I love even more that it is not a true "wildlife" shot as some people attempted to argue in "the thread". Excellent work!!

Nice focus. The blurred background and the border both add to the image.

Field mice are clearly a lot larger in your country than in mine! That aside, an interesting photo showing animal behaviour - a bit of a shame that the talons and tail are cut off.

There's so few of these gorgeous birds left in Scotland, it's really nice for me to see a good clear shot of one. The focus is really good. Don't you just love those stripey long shorts he wears? :)

Beautiful capture - if you could have persuaded him to look at you instead of away from you this would have been perfect.

But still a tremendous shot.

Ah, the icky part of nature: critters eating critters. Looks like a rather large (and white) field mouse. Bird is beautifully sharp, as he should be.

Beautiful bokeh here... If the bird were facing us a smidgeon more I think it would score more highly.. .but it's a wonderfully sharp image and full of interest.
