Shot this as a place holder for the Suburbia challenge, then swapped it out on the last day for something else.
The title is a double meaning ... on the edge of suburbia, showing the encroachment of growth on to open space, and a reference to the current financial crisis in the housing market, as reflected in the signs on the sales office.
The use of selective desat was intended to evoke a contrast between the grayness of suburban life and the world around it (though some of course may agree with my suburban view of the world!)
This would have been so much better in the Spring when those grassy hills are bright green, or even last week when we had some weather and nice cloud formations to add interest to the landscape. This week I was stuck with blue skies and bright light. :>( Shot this in the a.m. to try to get some light raking across the hills, but still not as interesting as it could be.
