 This is a chess set resembling the Spanich Armada attacking Great Britain in 1588.
The pawns are actual reproductions of some the vessels of the battle.
King and Queen represent the then current opponents: Queen Elizabeth I, King Philip II of Spain.
The board is hand-made by a friend of mine and designed and built to match size and theme.
I covered the background and legs with black cloth to make the board appear as floating in space.
The arrangement of figures represents the current state of my youngest son playing my wife.
