I stood in Edinburgh's Princes' Street gardens at the fountain for half an hour in the pouring rain to get this shot, with my poor mum holding a brolly over my camera and tripod! I don't know if it looks like a long exposure shot, it took me ages to get the settings (to what I think was) right. The rain was hitting the water behind him and I thought the droplets splashing up looked kinda cool with the settings I used, otherwise I'm not remotely impressed with this photo; I may get the brown with this but at least there's no glare anywhere for once. It's pretty dull since the weather was so poor, I'd have killed to use brightness/contrast levels! Oh well. I used a basic sharpen and then resized it.

It sort of looks like the Gargoyle is throwing up.

Nice although the contrast is a bit flat. Of course, I have no idea what you could have done about it given the limitations of this challenge. Seems to lean to the right also.

Insufficient contrast

the choice of horizontal perspective seems to close the image down a bit - the motion of the water is vertical, and a vertical perspective to show the flow of water may have really helped this shot. Also, the lighting on teh fountain gives the gargoyle a very flat and uninteresting appearance.

Would a different perspective - say from an angle instead of straight ahead - worked a bit better?

Interesting enough fellow; might like the water a mite smoother for this challenge and horizon straightened.
