Challenge: Long Exposure IV (Minimal Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Virginia, US
Date: Sep 15, 2008
Aperture: f/4
ISO: 100
Shutter: .4s
Galleries: Still Life, Blur
Date Uploaded: Sep 15, 2008

Originally I had my backdrop covering the whole background, but one shot the backdrop slipped and showed the shelf of books (albeit all OOF) behind it; I liked the lines of color it contributed to the shot, so I kept it that way for all my further shots/experimentation. Finally ended up with this version.

I took many shots, playing around with white balance camera settings and under and over exposures - I could have gone brighter, but from the variety of shots I had to choose from, I like the deep rich colors in this one the best - 1/3 stop brighter was just too bright and I didn't have the luxury of making a finer brightness adjust in post.

I didn't realize the background was books, but I like the way their colors radiate up from the clock. That continues the radiant nature of the clock as created by the zoom. I like this effect. The color of the image is strong and warm too. Very pleasing.

a cool effort - it clearly has a twilight zone feel to it - subtle, but effective

I love it.
What a great idea.
Time is always going, and its never going to stop.
I love how you filled the frame with the clock, and that there are colours on the top of the frame which would look dull if there wasnt
Good job and good luck

Nice idea; the dark band at the top of the clock separates the colorful bands from the clock without adding to the image concept IMO. I think this would have been stronger with just the clock in the shot.

I'm confused by the blurring of the numbers on the clock face. I like the blurred hands and overall tone.
