It was pretty much pitch black out there until the moon started to come up but even then it was DARK and I was pretty much afraid walking out there to take this half hour exposure.... haha

this is a great shot.. i love the star trails.. but i have a question.. i don't understand how you get a half hour exposure.. how do you get your shutter to stay open that long?

lovely star trails

Could be a little more level, the tilt kind of takes from the scene.

awesome effect of the stars moving around the barn

This was a long exposure because the stars have some awesome motion... but the parn is taking up almost the entire frame... and it looks like there are two spot lights on either side of the barn causing a purple glow in the pic. Try just pointing the camera to the sky with a tractor or something in the bottom corner of the frame... this will draw the viewers attention to the stars rather than a large red barn... Nice shot though

Are those streaks stars? Gosh this must have been a long exposure.Turns night into day doesn't it?

This is one of the better ones for demonstrating the concept of long exposure. I'm not sure what the purple things are in upper corners, but somehow it just adds to the effect. Have you tried this in B&W?

The start trails are okay, but compisitionally it's a bit messy. The barn itself is competing for attention from the sky, and the foreground distrations only further clutter the scene. I do like the complementary sort of colors between sky, barn and ground though.

the purple artifacts in the corner of the image are a bit distracting, but the details and the star tracks are a nice touch

How cool is that!? Your sensor hotspots actually work with an image rather than destroy it! The only quibble I have is that I'd like to see the barn fill the lower half of the frame.

What is causing the purple in the corners? Good photo.
