[Sep. 14th, 2008 03:57:25 PM]

This is my brand new boy Nathaniel, born on 5th September at 9:30pm by an emergency c-section after a 26 hour labour. He's the most precious thing in the whole world!

It was the most emotionally challanging 2 days of my life which became the best day of my life when he was delivered and both him and my wife were safe and sound. By the time he was born I'd been about 42 hours without sleep and about 36 hours without any food but it was just amazing!

My wifes family were away in Florida (DisneyWorld) for my Brother in laws wedding so I was taking a stream of pictures daily to keep them involved and updated and this was one from Day3. I figured it fit nicely with this challenge and so entered it.

My new fish eye only arrived that day and so this was about the 3rd shot i'd taken with it. I'm really impressed with the lens for handling and sharpness.

This is just natural light from a window on camera right and he's in his moses basket. He was kicking his legs and so I set manual focus to a short distance from camera and waited for him to kick in the right spot.

I'm getting a big canvas print of this and two others that I took for our bedroom walls so I'm not too fussed how this does in the challenge as it's a winner in my eyes.

Sorry to bore you all with the long story but I hope you liked the image

I love the soft tones of this photo. It fits the challenge perfectly and is just generally really beautiful. I only wish the top and left was cropped a little to get rid of that black curve thing. But it's really great overall. => 9

Aw; very sweet little tootsie :-) Enough detail to make out the rest of him which adds nice perspective. I would have cropped tighter on the left to get rid of the distracting dark bit there.

Well, this makes me smile. What a wonderful, and different, subject for shallow DOF. Congratulations on the birth of your son. BTW, I wish the dark upper left corner weren't there. Maybe after the challenge you could clone that out.
