 Well then, I had entered something else, which I liked but then I remembered a series of Pink/white/Violet dahlias that I had shot for the Overexposed challenge...I entered dolls. Oh Well. But I shot them on a white background and figured this would be more catalogue like. I so stole the title from the description of the first site that came up when I entered dahlia bulbs in Live Search.

Shot with four clamp lamps on stun....LOL! Four clamp lamps each with a 100w halogen bulb pointed from upper and lower left and right directly on the subjects. Camera on tripod with cable remote.

Post: Camera Raw adjustments in PS Elements 6.0. Selected the background and prcessed it separately from the flowers and then processed the flowers. For the background, I selected a white point to get it as white as possible in levels. Then the flowers were processed with layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Spot edit dust, imperfections on the flower petals and some dents in the white background that did not come out (though I may have done that before the background levels adjustment). Crop. Adjust sharpness. Resize. Adjust sharpness.

Very nice shot of flowers. One thing that may make this idea pop more would be to include the bulbs, and make the flowers appear to have grown directly from the bulbs, instead of isolating them by themselves.

This seems more like just a flower shot than a product shot but it's very attractive.

A bit of a stretch because pretty much all advertising for plant bulbs stress the whole plant, not just the blooms and I would guess these are cut flowers, not whole plants. I think the studio effect of the white background makes it seem more like cut flowers then whole plants. Nice exposure and lighting.

i can't believe you shoehorned a (admitted, very crisp and well lightened) flower shot in. when your product is bulbs, why aren't they in the shot?
