I just happened to have made this image today and stumbled upon the product shot challenge. Some might argue I'm stretching the term 'product' shot a bit, which is true.
Anyway, I managed to recover the original NEF before conversion to DNG, so I won't get DQ'd a second time.

Recipe
80g butter - 1/2 cup brown sugar - zest from 1 lemon - 3 eggs - 1,5 cup flour - 1 packet baking soda - 1 teaspoon cinnamon - 1,25dl milk - 1/2 cup raisins - 1 apple (peeled, halved and sliced) - 1 tablespoon apricot jam.

Preheat oven to 180°C
Soften the butter and mix with brown sugar. Add lemon zest.
Beat in eggs one-by-one.
Sift flour and cinnamon into large bowl and mix in the butter/sugar mixture, the milk and the raisins.
Pour into greased baking pan and arrange the apple slices on top.
Bake for 55-60min.
Remove from oven onto cooling rack and spread the apricot jam on top.
Yummy !

Setup info
Camera/lens : D300 & 17-55/2.8
A picture of the setup here.
Main light from window behind the subject to camera right.
Fill light from SB800 @ 1/32 & 24mm through white brolly from front/left of subject.
White foamcore (not shown on setup) hand-held under lens to provide additional fill.

Before setting up any lights I figured out which diaphragm would render the desired depth of field. Shooting tethered to my MacBook made this really easy.
I eventually chose f7.1
I measured correct exposure for ambient to be 1/50 (ISO200), this kept the whole scene well-exposed with a slight over-exposure to the back-right of the scene.
Similar set-ups on similar days had taught me that 1/32 was a good starting value for the SB800. A test shot quickly confirmed that I was in the right ball-park.
I then proceded to move the SB800 backwards slightly until the exposure looked balanced.

Yummy! The lighting looks natural and that makes the scene that much more enjoyable. It makes me hungry for apple pie. Very effective.
