No, I am a network engineer. A marginally interesting line of work which funds the photography and violin pursuits, without which I would probably go insane and go live in a cave somewhere. |

Thanks Nic, I'm glad you can see all that. Good idea re the hand, its on a strange angle and I'd wondered about that.
By the way, can I have your dog please? :-) |

I love the photo.. tons of emotion. I see focus, determination, and alot of heart. My eyes flow from the mans face to the hand to see what he is doing, no other distractions in the photo. But, I would crop the bottom a tad more.. so that part of his hand is cropped slightly. |

Oh dear. Well, here's three explanations......
Its not the photos that are the explanations, its the three kids modelling. I toured for over 1/3 of a year every year plus recording, rehearsing and admin time, and they suffered as a result of it. I'm not pretending to be a great photographer, which is why I'm here trying to learn to be one.
I shouldn't have put this photo up - this came as a result of a stupid block that I have been experiencing and a rather pathetic attempt at getting back into it. I think I may rethink it and pull it down until I have something a little more justifiable to post.
Like your work, by the way, its very creative. Are you a professional violinist?

Honestly I want to see a picture that explains to me what makes a cellist give up the cello... Damned hard to find good cellists to play with, not to mention the time commitment in learning these damned stringed fiends. |

I agree that most people (ahah, you are a violinist so probably prefer more instrument :-) ) would want to see more guitar. But I was more interested in the relationship between his face, ie his feelings, and his hand, ie his craft - I like that you have to guess what he's doing, because he could be doing anything that involves a deeply contemplative moment. But maybe you're right, it might just be too abstract to convey that - I know what he's up to, no-one else does. |

Might want to show a bit more the guitar. Without reading your story of the image, it would be hard to figure out what he's up to here. |
