Very pleased with how my score has played out. I was up in the 7.3s for a while but later in the week I am watching the drop. At the same time I am watching ecce_signum creep his way up. I don't know which is his but I have a feeling he will overtake me before rollover.

Anyways - I had an entry for dolls but it was a stuffed animal shot and from the sound of it that would probably get hit by DNMC's. I had originally wanted to shoot Rowan for this challenge cause she just does high key so well. I dont know why I didnt off the bat but I ended up going back to that idea on Monday I think. She just has the eyes and skin tones to take high key really well. I am glad I got this image.

Tim, I really love the lighting in this! Those eyes melt you in this shot... I dont know how anyone could give this a 2 or 3 heck even a 4 when looking into those eyes... Congrats on your ribbon!

Geez, you're a master at this. Those eyes are doll-like indeed. I like the tilted pose, the directness of the gaze, the crop and the borders to polish it off. But the one thing that bugs me a little is, oddly enough, the very thing that was required for the challenge. With the loss of detail in the eyebrow and the line under the eye, there's a strange illusion of the right eye being smaller than the left. Really just a minor issue for me, and this is still an exquisite, intimate child portrait. Kudos.

What beautiful eyes! and so clear and crisp! The speckles on her nose are really distracting, but I imagine those are freckles? The border doesnt do anything for me but good picture 8

yes. this over-exposure brings the eyes to sudden notice. top 10.

09/04/2008 07:26:23 PM
The magnitude of the differences between the two eyes (size, shadows on both sides of the left eye globe but not the right) and the dilated pupils despite bright light make this a bit unsettling. If not due to photographic factors, a medical eye evaluation might be wise.
