My second overlay project. This is a composite of four b&w photos with a colored 'painting' on top. (Thanks Redjulep for putting the overlay in the DPC Texture Library.
There were really a lot of layers in this: a layer for each of the four portraits with clipped adjustment layers for each of those images. The overlay was a fifth imaage, with adjustment layers clipped to that. Finally the background layer (old man portrait) was copied and put on the top of the stack in soft light blending mode. I used a number of blending modes throughout the process, including: soft light, multiply, and vivid light, with various fill percentages. I also did some dodging and burning, cloning and a lot of masking.
Don't know if it was worth all the work, but it was a really fun learning exercise, and I think my daughters will like it.
No point in putting any technical info, because the photos were taken over a long period of time, and many different cameras, locations, and settings were used. |

Quite nicely done, Julianne. The way that you put this together absolutely gives the sense of a lovely memory or daydream. |

Very nicely put together. I think some of the colored painting layer is obscuring the faces a bit too much (this all just my opinion, offered up as if this were "my shot", my aesthetic decision) - you might try masking it lightly in those areas, to bring out the faces more, but not so much that you then lose the idea of memory as a fading/obscuring thing, which you've captured so well here with the texture already. |

Very nice Julianne. There really is the sense of memories and thoughts of people from many perspectives. Thanks for all the work you put into this one. |
