Well didn´t really shoot serious photography at all this month, I was on vacation almost all of it and it was the first proper vacation I have taken since 2005 so I was really in the mindset to just relax and take it easy.
We went to Norway, Stavanger to more precise for almost three weeks and I only took family snapshots the whole time, it was brilliant. I don´t have the name of this cat, it was being "babysitted" by people we visited. I am not really much of an cat person but I was playing with it with a piece of string and I noticed it had some interest in the neck strap of the camera so I removed the lenscap, did some quick exposure adjustments and took this shot blind (that is, not looking through the viewfinder), holding the camera against the floor. It´s taken at 16mm so you can imagine how close the cat was.
I have a feeling this shot won´t do very well, pet photographs are a bit overdone here at DPC as far as I am concerned so I wont heckle anyone who votes this down, feel free, I probably would as well. I like this shot though and think I did allright considering it´s one of my first times ever photographing a pet. I do like the focus, distortion and lighting in it and the expression of the cat so I really don´t care how it will score, my guess is a mid 5 score. I will take next month seriously though, am back to work and really refreshed so look out!
Spent about 2 minutes processing it, just raw conversion and removed a pillow in the backround.
I am really happy with this score, was about 0.2 higher than I guessed and it got a whopping 6 favorites during voting, I have only gotten so many faves during voting 2-3 times before and I appreciate that much more than a 6.6 score, thx guys and gals! :D |

| 5.6?? Are you kidding me? I put this as a favorite within 2 seconds of seeing it. This is beyond a "pet shot." The DOF and lighting are fantastic. |
