I'm worried about how this will do in the challenge. I'm guessing a lot of people won't think it fits because it doesn't have any buildings in it.

I took this shot about a mile from my house. So it is more near where I live then any town or village.

I wish the fishing line would have shown up better. This would be classified as a self portrait though I guess, so I can't complain to much. I set the timer, set up the shot, hit the shutter and ran into view and casted. Only one cast actually got me a fish, and it was the shot I took about 3 after this one.

Very nice. I would have composed this with less of the shore in the foreground.

Very nice image, but how do I know anything about the village or town you live in? If this is a beutiful spot in the middle of nowhere, I wish I was there on vacation, because you did a great job on the shot (but didn't meet the challenge.) If this is actual a view that crops out all civiization, I wish there was just a bit of the community as part of the shot.

Competent shot .. perhapslackig in drama, despite that sky. It may only be the absolute cleanliness of that shoreline, but this has the feel of man-made territory, but the look of a supposed wilderness too - I think that contrast hurts the shot. composition pulls the eye in two drections - both up and down at the same time, which lends a feeling of unease: there's a reason the 'experts' suggest not putting the skyline on the centre-line of the shot ... :-)
