I don't really do abstract or black and white, but I haven't entered in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to enter something. I have no clue how this will do.
Water drop (obviously) into a dark blue dinner plate full of water, in front of a page of sheet music (Mendelssohn, I think) hanging on a black backdrop. The lighting was entirely reflection off of the music. If you're reading "Light, Science and Magic", this is bright field lighting from the glass chapter.
Post processing:
* Convert from RAW (brightened it a bit)
* crop (a lot)
* NeatImage
* black and white adjustment layer
* resize, sharpen, SFW
post challenge: Abstract, not abstract...I don't know either. I wanted to work with light, shape, and form without worrying about strict definitions of whether the individual elements are recognizable or not. I'll leave the discussion about whether water drops are overused in DPC to the smarter people in the forums. I just like to take pictures, and this seemed like a good subject for this type of challenge. |

I don't know about it being abstract but I do know that it's a really beautiful image. Excellent work. |

Great job with this capture. Nice and crisp. The 2nd drop just makes it really great. (no vote) |

This looks great but I wouldn't consider it an abstract shot. Its an excellent high speed shot though. Very clean and smooth.
Or then again my idea of abstract might be wrong? Im giving it 8/10 anyway coz I like it. |

Ah, yes - another water drop shot. Sigh... Well executed as a photograph. A bit tiring as a subject. |
