5th race at Fort Erie Racetrack. Love the fact that I caught the jockey losing his riding crop. He won anyway. It will be interesting to see if that catches anyone's eye.

Judiciously post-processed. 2 layers of Lucis Art (sculpture and Whyeth) both backed off to 40-60%, curves, levels, saturation (-20), USM. A dodge & burn layer set to soft light. One final additional layer from original with gaussian blur and backed off to 20%. Border, and there you have it.

Thanks to all for the top 20 and the great comments. I figured there might be more racing shots in this challenge. Too bad it didn't make my profile page, 'cause I really dig it.

Excellent action shot. That jockey on number three is probably not pleased with the slip of the fingers on his crop. The jockey on number 2 is quite intense!

Not a fan of the processing here, it looks like Lucisarts or too much EHDR. Nice stopped motion though and the focus and lighting is pretty well nailed.

I wonder if the horse slowed down because he wasn't being whipped anymore? lol Great capture. Wonderful exposure and stop action photography.

Looks like a shot for Thoroughbred Times. Exquisite capture and I can almost hear the 3 jock swearin as he drops his crop :-) 9

best of the racing ones in my opinion; great composition, action, colours, focus and composition. the dust flying from the ground is very good too. 8. : )

Tell number 3 to keep hold of his crop next time :- )

Nice shot - full of action and colour - good crop and framing.

I wonder how often that happens (a jockey losing his whip). Lucky capture! Nice color and good focus. had corrected the tilt.

Way oversharpened IMO as I look at the dirt in particular, you've captured a nice moment in the action.
