Got this idea very close to the deadline...we'll see what happens. The Full House beats 2 Pair...I've won a lot of money this way :) Minimal processing per rules, cropped, added border, bumped contrast slightly.

Used my Manfrotto tripod w/ Bogen head, Canon 10D w/ Canon 28-105 USM II lens.

Technically a great job. Artistcally - it lacks impact for me.

this is a nice photo, and i liked it, HOWEVER, i don't feel as if it really captures serendipity, since no one is "making happy and unexpected discoveries. " (Going to use a double negative here but try to make sense of it.) It's not not unexpected, like a game of chance like this would expect a person to at one point or another in the game to get a hand like this. Also, something that would be explained more would be nice. I had to get a friend who knows about texas hold'em to explain what was going on. Also, from a photography point of view, i would have liked more emphasize on the cards being turned over, and thus increasing the emphasize on the serendipity. A 6 in my book.

If that is you holding the King and the Ace, then excellent, but if you are the other person, it is the exact opposite of the theme. :o)

Cute. A little flat lighting-wise.
