 I wanted to test my new lighting toys. I bought a Canon ST-E2 wirelss flash transmitter and a 420EX flash (already had a 550EX). Lit from underneath the table, similar to my Primary Glass shot. Background is red, but I liked the black and white look better. The transmitter works great. I shut the lights off in my basement and the infrared sensor picked up the focusing perfectly in near total darkness. I shot all shots hand held at 1/60sec. No need to use a tripod ... woooo hooooo!

Processing:

- Slight rotation and crop
- Desaturation
- Levels
- I dodged a bit because it was too dark in the glasses
- I burned the table in front of the glasses a bit too so it wouldn't distract from the glasses
- 24 pixel border using Canvas Size
Sharpen
- 35% Neat Image.

Was supposed to be a test for a sihouette shot, but I ended up keeping the glass because I didn't have time to think of a proper subject to use.

Excellent lightling, original subject for this challenge. I don't know if I like the assortment in a lineup like that -- I think I'd either use two the same and one different, or maybe put the shorter one noticably in front to add some depth and purpose to the differences.

Wonderfully clear and well focused picture of wine glasses. However, it isn't a silhouette.

First, I like this picture. Second .. hmm, ok, I really like this picture. I sure wish I knew why - I feel like I am missing something by not knowing. Very inventive aproach to the challenge.

Very creative interpretation of silhouettes. Great lighting. A bit tilted to the right, though.

YOu had a nice idea here but, the horizontal plane is off in a way that is not sitting right with me visually. Just a slight rotation to the left would have easily cureed this. Nevertheless, it's a nice silhouette shot and, that's what we are here for :-)

I like the shading and I think this is technically a well done photograph; however, I find glasses very boring subjects.

It is a nice still life but I donĂ¢€™t believe this is really a silhouette. True we do see the outline of the glasses but we all so see depth in them as well.

A good shot, but if you see top left and top right, there is a certain amount of banding, meaning that you have either compressed the picture too much, or done something odd in editing. Good lighting though.
