Funny, but I just noticed that the design on your dress in the thumbnail looks like the bottom of the chair... I suppose your music does have an effect on what you do while you are listening... hmmmmm...

I find this really absorbing. I love the textures and the way that I can just sit looking at it, imagining different scenarios going on.

Really strong gritty shot - wonderful tensions between the portrayed innocence of girl & bear, against the bleak harsh surroundings - the personal against the impersonal, the tender against the overpowering, the relationship against the uncaring . . .

There is also an interesting dynamic in elevating the bear to a higher position than the girl, in that at that moment she appears to be more of a hand-maiden to the bear, rather than it, being a comfort, to her. It assumes a position of dominance in the shot through being elevated on it's throne, while she sits at it's side on the floor.

I think the shot could be interpreted in two completely different ways, either as the girl and the bear facing this bleak harsh overpowering surrounding - the organic against the inorganic - or as the girl and the bear in some lofty eyrie in a position of power and dominance looking out through a portal to what lies beyond. The bear with his throne, ring lighting, and hand maiden (or maybe Paw Maiden) elevating him to a position of power and authority.

This picture could create a thousand stories - excellent shot.

ps - I agree with Art though - whether this is Omnipotent Bear or not, he's not going to sit in my chair

Pffft! I NEVER let my bear sit in my chair. ;-)
Crikey, Kari - you're setting the bar pretty high right off the bat! Fantastical!

fantastic shot! :] heres what I like about it:
The way your both facing towards the window, and the light from it is highlighting you.
The way the bear is sitting on the chair and you on the floor so it evens heights.
The compostition, as it makes you look really small, the bear signifying this too.
The 'spotlight' your both sitting in .
The wall itself; its vastness, the lines and scratches and marks across it- its really powerful, even daunting.
Finnaly the way this tells a story; however you interpret it:
Feeling trapped in a situation, maybe its too big and imposing to handle; feeling very small inside, looking for the light- a way out.
This is a really original shot and I truly love it :]

I love this idea, it's both a fairy tale and a horror piece...
Also, the editing is eerie! Well done :P

Very well thought out and executed. B&W was a good choice too. This is something that makes you think every time you view it. Great shot. Look forward to more.

Wow so cool. The rim lighting on the bear is neat. This is really well composed, it doesn't make me think Winnie the Poo though. My first thought was something along the lines of 1984 and Big Brother, so ya I get a spooky feel from this. I really like this!

I hear the words in my head: "They're heeere" lol

This feels like an old horror movie. I love the fact that I can't see your face. I do wonder what you are doing in a basement with a teddy bear though... ? hehe FAN-FRIKKIN-TASTIC!!

This is a very very cool photo. I love the graininess of the scene. Great use of lighting and silhouettes. It's so arty. Makes me wonder if the two of you are having a conversation or are just sitting thinking about something.

Oh that is wonderful. Reminds me of a Pooh and Piglet portrait somehow. The backlighting is excellent.

"Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh," he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you." ...
