OK, so this isn't Krueger National Park(but, we plan to visit in June.)

It is a hand carved wooden elephant that we bought a few years ago on vacation in Bali. The sky is displayed on my computer monitor (which doubles as the main light source) and is a picture of a sunset from the same Bali trip.

I piled up some books to get the relative heights between monitor and statue correct, stretched the monitor cable as far as possible, and set exposure based on a spot read off the monitor, which made the elephant shadow as above.

The photoshop was:

Flipping the sky horizontally to get the bright part on the right, allowing for the short monitor cord.

Unsharp masking and resizing, and a little burning and dodging on the elephant's mouth to make it a bit more realistic.

There was also a morrey (sp?) pattern on the monitor that I blurred out using smart blur and a little rubber stamp.

Other than that, nothing special.

nice image. hmm just thinknig about what could be improved. i wonder if the elephant could be just a TOUCH more in focus. it seems soft right now and might be improved by being very sharp. Perhaps the fact that is looks a little fake (the mouth) makes it seems less impressive, but you have a great idea and a good start. The sunset behind the elephant is good, with nice reds and steaks of darker and lighter shades. I like the cropping and framing of the image.

I guessed correctly that this was a statue in front of your monitor. I still gave it a 10 though and I still would. Adding it to my favorites. Wonderful image.

Looks like a mammoth instead of an elephant. But good idea and great colors.

I take it this is a carved elephant infront of a faked sky - I thought of doing something similar with a carved rhino I just bought back from Kenya! Nice composition. Focus seems soft.
