Excellent focus and colors. I would have cropped out more of the left side. Nice catch! |

Serendipity is a difficult concept to visualize. For me it means being at the right place, at the right time, and being lucky enough to capture something unique. Some of these entries are set up shots trying to illustrate that concept, and some record a serendipitous moment experienced by the photographer themselves. This is a good example of the latter. Birds aren't known for sitting still for portraits, so you know this image was a lucky shot. And the color sheme and composition are very pleasing. |

Interesting. The title makes this image a serendipitous event to my mind (without calling it, âWas I surprised to See This!â, just to be sure we understood it.). Iâd be pleased to peer over the edge and see someone peering back. Excellent technically. Iâm a bit suspicious of the background, but that would be settled by someone other than me. |

This is a PERFECT example of serendipity! Nice photo, too, the bird pops right out of the photo, due to the blurred foreground and background, nice work! |

The detail on the head is delightful, I'm glad that you got a little of his shoulders too. I wish the shot was framed to show the architecture of the bridge a little to highlight the incongruity of the nesting bird on a man-made construction. Lovely colors and good DOF. |

you just never know where those little buggers will hide.....depth of field control strengthens this picture. |

Wonderful detail in the feathers. Hard to capture that on such quick moving subjects as finches (or is it a sparrow?) and at such a limited depth of field, too! |

This is my favourite one of the lot, it is sharp, in focus, and you needed to be very quick to capture a tiny bird like this....this shows serendipity to me and gets a 10 |

Cute guy! I very much like the balance of colors, and DOF is perfect. |

I know sparrows are almost classed as vermin, but this is a great shot. |

I don' t know if this meets the challenge... without the title, it's just another bird picture, albeit a beautiful one. |
