This is stunning! The petals look so creamy smooth yet the image is incredibly sharp! Thanks for providing some info on your PP - I will definitely give this filter a try...

Interesting point (bassbone)made and good eye to see that. I'm simply in awe of the detail in your image and like the outer shades as gives depth to the inner aspects..

I like the smooth transition of pink to yellow at the top, and that seems fairly sharp. I'm wondering though about the black halo in the lower half.
I'll be taking many dahlia's this month as I have lots in my backyard. |

I thought it looked a little oversharpened at first. But then read your comments. I will have to try that myself too.
I would crop off the top to bring your eye into the center more. Lovely light and colors.
I love dahlias, I bet you went click happy in the gardens!
To bad I don't live close, I would love to visit that garden.

| This shot is begging for a square crop to me, mainly to get rid of the top bit that doesn't do much for the whole... and black and white, but that could just be a personal phase. The accentuated edges make it look like a pastel painting. |

The color is so soft, but also quite sensuous, and so appealing.
I agree that a tighter crop would make this really 'POP'.
The clarity, focus, and color, all work a treat for me, and thank you for sharing this awesome floral image with us.

| Huh; never tried a technique like that. It really does create a surreal effect, particularly towards the bottom where it so sharply defines the petal edges. I'd probably crop a little tighter to show that off, too. Looking forward to seeing some more examples of this processing! |

| I love how the light off the petals provides wonderful shadows on the petals beneath. It all delivers a very three dimensional feel to the bottom of the image. I wonder if a slightly different crop to emphasize the lower more dramatic lighting would give this even more of a boost |

| Ok sorry to rant but ..... At first I really liked the shot, then came a moment of not really sure what to make of the edit. So here i sit at work just kinda staring at your photo. So, if I'm taking this long to look at this photo it must be evoking something in me. It does. And I really like it. I love how the edges popout at me. I love the way it makes me feel like I'm really looking at a combination of a photograph and an oil painting. Thank you. |

I disagree with the too techy diagnosis. I really like how sharp it all is on the edges. Looks 'really unreal'. *grin*

I like the photo but I'm not too sure about the editing. I think a more subtle approach would have been better - it wouldn't seem so high tech then :)
(A high tech flower? Hmm... maybe you really did create it from scrap metal and broken wires and just painted it yellow and then used a whole lot of photoshopping on making it look real! Aha, I'm on to you...)
