 This was actually one of my beginning photos just to figure out the composition, lighting, focus and settings- but I ended up liking it so much more than any of the following ones.

Edits:
Levels and Curves adjustment layers
slight hue/Saturation adjustment to compensate for a small amount of bluish light in the pic from a nearby window I couldn't fully close...


Hope it does well- Any comments are very welcome- especially constructive criticism!

Great photo. But the placement of the hands sorta weirds me out... what is that in the background...armpit or other joint? The right hand holding the bird should be a left hand...
I take it you had somebody else holding the bird than the background model. That's my only issue. The muted lighting works perfectly and sets the mood nicely.

I think this was unduly marked down for the graininess. I thought it was a beautiful image, wonderfully composed and so appropriate for the challenge. Was a 9 from me, and my equal pick for the blue.

On my screen, the image quality seems a bit poor... It seems a little grainy and over-saturated. But with that aside this is a very, very beautiful image. The tones and shadows are very rich, and the story this tells is powerful. Lovely capture!
