It's hard to tell about the file size in this shot, but it looks like it may have been shot with the camera set to lower resolution than it would be normally, i/e set at 1meg instead of 6 or 8 meg. In particular, the edges of the court line, and the lettering on the racket look a little pixilated to me.
With this Mac, I can see all the tones in the darker areas, but some computer screens would not show the low key areas, which would affect the voting. I found my monitor set at the std Mac gamma, which is brighter than almost all PC's screens. It made my photos dark looking for everyone else until I set my monitor to 1.8 gamma.
The composition includes lines, curves, and squares which is nice, and depth of field is good. The placement in the composition, centered, just does not seem quite exciting enough to do well in a challenge.
Don't be discouraged, just keep shooting and look at a lot of the images that are doing well, and you will soon have some good scores.
Happy first comment! : ) |
